I walked into the Bodhi Tree Cafe, and into an atmosphere of restorative calm and a mellow contentment. Scented lavender candles flickered soothingly. Books on meditation, wholesome eating and healthy living lined the bookshelves. The kettle sang and the pouring sound of water washing over tea leaves lapped at my ears. The smell of lemon grass and ginger drifted upwards into my nostrils. It was the perfect backdrop to interview a Buddhist Monk.
He sat quietly, hands clasped in his lap, long orange robes wrapped elegantly around his tall frame. His whole demeanour was one of quiet listening. He saw me and called out my name. I smiled and went over to meet my interview subject. Continue reading
